After looking at the site of the Suntour museum last night (posted on 12-30-01 CR list), it appears I was mistaken about the difference between the Superbe line and the Cyclone line. It is surprising that I would make this error since I had two iterations of the Superbe gruppo (1980 and 1986 Pro), and one iteration of a Cyclone gruppo. The problem here is that I was comparing one year's model Superbe to another year's model Cyclone. It now appears to me that for any one year the Superbe line matched the Cyclone line in all but small cosmetic details and possibly minor things like bushing quality or final finish. The shape of the parts was pretty much the same. Maybe it was a differentiation like the one that Campy has created through the years with its top of the line gruppo and one step down.
If you check the list for yesterday, you will see all the various rear derailleurs that Suntour made. The last Superbe Pro shown, which the one I currently race, is a real looker. Even young owners of modern day equipment seem to like it's modern looks (modern by 80's standards). Garth Libre in raining S. Florida.
