I was astounded that I had no bids on this bike which is very very clean and I thought would (if not now, eventually) have some historical interest. I have one wanker who tried to buy it after the auction, but he may be vapor.

The Scapin-made LeMonds are quite different in some details too, especially the unusual screwed on chrome top tube cable guides.. I have never seen that on any other bike. Does anyone know of a similar technique by other builders?

This bike belongs to our local Special Olympic team, which I sponsor, and I offered to try to sell it so that they could instead have two or three more mundane bikes which would better suit their needs. I understand this bike was donated to them by a wife who acquired it after a divorce!
