There could be debate whether this year was bigger than last year or not, but it was a nice mid-winter gathering for a bunch of us. I'm sure I'll leave some off, but here are some folks I ran into from the list:
Wayne Bingham Larry Black Jill DeMauro Roy Drinkwater Pete Geurds Larry Osborn Karen ____, who came to Cirque last year Marty Walsh (and his lovely bride!).
Instead of schlepping tons of stuff from the shop to sell, Larry Black had a great idea: brought some of his really special stuff, some chairs, some munchies, and invited folks to chat and visit. Great fun, and thanks, Larry!
The bottom feeders like me had a good time with goodies like the trashed wheel Rick Cool found, with a good campy record hub for $10. Rick, who came along and is succumbing to the classic disease quickly, scored a Stronglight 49d in nice condition in a large box of junk parts he bought for a song. I found a "fair" Jubilee front derailleur...
Why am I not overwhelmed that Rick gave me all the Viscount pedals and brake parts he found in the box? :-)
BTW, I'd like a prize for being true to principles (he said, wrenching his arm patting himself on the back): By the end of the show, a repainted Viscount/Lambert lugged-frame, replaced fork and most other parts, was marked down to $15, with original cranks. I just said "no," and left it there. Of course, I did have to drag home the Genuine Shimano Sheet Metal V-brakes, with aero-plastic covers, that Wayne Bingham insisted I take. From a real Huffy Aero-whatever. Thanks, Wayne ...
That example may make another point: I saw less of the really nice classic parts for sale this year than I remember from before. It's mostly a roadie and mtn bike "thing," and maybe much of the supply of Olde Attic stuff is going through other channels.
