Today's picture - the late Roger Lapébie (1/16/11 - 10/21/96)

(picture from 1982) 72-years-old Roger Lapébie still looks fit and healthy as he rides through the coutryside near Bordeaux. He spent his later years tending roses.

He was one of the last two surviving prewar winners of the Tour de France. Bartali was the last. 1950 winner Ferdi Kubler is the oldest surviving winner. His 82nd birthday is July 24th... remember to send him a birthday greeting c/o Swiss Cycling Federation.
