Jeff and the gang,

Just finished searching for a special hub that was the topic of conversation a few days ago; a front track hub for "an Olympic" bike. I knew I had one and Jeff prodded me to look for it. What I found was not what I think was described the other day in terms of flange diameter and locknut to locknut distance. This is what I found. In terms of size and shape of the flanges they are standard NR small flange (these are 47mm edge to edge) which would give the typical 44mm spoke hole pattern. This particular hub is UNDRILLED! No spoke holes yet. The over locknut distance is an astounding narrow 54mm. The flange centerlines are only 30mm apart. It has a standard Campag. solid track axel that is completely factory chromed and finished on the ends, not a cut down axel. It has two standard Campag. track nuts for which the length of the axel and the thickness of two Campag. track drououts has taken into consideration. The locknuts and cones are regular Campag. track (locknuts have serrations on the outside) which have not been loosened since the hub left the factory. This hub is unused (and has never been laced to a wheel...Duh!). I bought it from Neil Lacey (a former Motorola Team mechanic) at a San Diego Velodrome Swap Meet several years ago. Why did I buy it, you ask? Because I thought it was cute. Anyway, I have this thing and now I'm curious if anyone happens to know where this thing was originally intended to be. If I recall, the hub Marc Boral mentioned was 28 holes, 3'5 in. dia. flanges, and 80something over locknut, no?
