I'm trying to select a set of Campy shifters for a project bike. Based on what evidence I have, the bike was made shortly after 1977. I have most of a post-CPSC 2nd gen SR group to hang on the bike. Can't quite stomach the first gen derailleur prices and 2nd gen came out in '79 , so it'll do. The question is what did a Campy downtube shiftter look like in '79? So far I'm assuming:
Raised letter version (for certain) No cable housing stops on lever stop plates
Do I have my facts right?
If so, the last issue is whether the hardware included the nylon bushings and cone-shaped chrome outer washer, or the steel internals and the flat outer washer.
Anybody? Anybody?
As long as we're at it, dates for the other changes might be of general interest. Switch to engraved letters, switch from black to chrome stops, and from stops to no stops, change in internals... and any others that anyone knows about.
