Roy:

My 2 cents=E2=80=94Yes, go for a plain Black or White deal OR get red! =C2=A0 Like me, not Mike, nor Lon.=C2=A0=20 =20 IMHO, the High Tech research still shows glow-in-dark paints in Orange/Yello= w=20 colors give the advantage I=E2=80=99d want in these retro shells.

This is the point for old farts like me=E2=80=A6

I started wearing a helmet (begrudgingly, but thankfully) in ~ 1973-4 while=20 workin=E2=80=99 (sellin=E2=80=99 & crankin=E2=80=99 out the =E2=80=9Chigh-en= d=E2=80=9D stuff for Turin Bike Co-op=20 in Evanston IL while on undergrad at Northwestern U).

My head is still bruised (& has lotsa scars from hockey n fights n spills) t= o=20 this day. Most damage done (without enough full head protection) from birth= =20 to last month=E2=80=A6=C2=A0 The older I get the more I lose sleep and walk=20= into: the door=20 frames of life=E2=80=A6 =20 My last big bike scars are circa 1998 from a header after I forgot to=20 reskewer my front wheel on an original Specialized Hard Rock(~1986ish).=C2= =A0 I=20 (in daze early one Sat. am) jumped a curb to =E2=80=9Csave=E2=80=9D my front= rim (stupid old=20 habit learned from 27=E2=80=9Dx1=E2=80=9D rims from the late =E2=80=9860=E2= =80=99s).=C2=A0 I landed with the=20 front wheel separated from the fork but still in the fork=E2=80=94on my face= --- a=20 millisecond too soon, on the backtop off the cement sidewalk (as my racer=20 buds taught this old mechanic).=C2=A0 I often forget to go back to sleep sti= ll,=20 and in a sleepless daze unlearn the skills I had way back then building=20 Schwinns & then Trek- & French-English-Italian gems for the rich folks up=20 North of my roots (Back o=E2=80=99 da Yards--Southside) in Chi-cog-go. =20 Paul (scarredbut proud, albeit sleepless n W Chgo) Dieterle <A HREF=3D"mailto:paulcycles@aol.com">paulcycles@aol.com</A> n works =E2=80= =93 <A HREF=3D"mailto:Paul.Dieterle@ssa.gov">Paul.Dieterle@ssa.gov</A>=20 sstill missing my =E2=80=9C=E2=80=99talian bike fromKozy=E2=80=99s (=E2=80= =9969) w/French n Campy stuff=E2=80=9D=20 that never crashed! =E2=80=98N beata lot of dem dumb/damn racers in trainin= =E2=80=99 rides,=20 too! =20 C:\Paul=E2=80=99sother stuff\bike\CR to Roy Drinkwater in PA on cool retro h= elmets in=20 Production today=E2=80=A6doc=C2=A0 3/5/2001 2:58:46 AM
