I'm not Brian, but you did post this to the list. I don't see the connection or your conclusion. Investment casting was just the next logical step in the creation of quality steel lugs made to high tolerances for frame building with steel tubes. Mario Confente was a very traditonal guy. You need look no farther than Richard Sachs for a model of what Mario Confente would be doing today.

Of course, I could be completely wrong here. Being in California, maybe Mario would have got bit by the acting bug and got those juicy roles as Tony Danza's dad!
