At the risk of being slightly off-topic.., a couple of modern headbadges that I like are the "Atlantis" - just kind of a clean & rereshing image. One that does a good job of incorporating the fasteners & accurately reflecting the correct image appears on "Strong" frames. (www.strongframes.com) BTW, the absolute worst characteristic of ergo shifting (perhaps the only bad thing for me), is the way the cables almost completely block the view of the headtube. I will say that for me, a nicely designed & executed decal in place of a headbadge can be just as pleasing. Masi, DeRosa & RS are great examples. And who does not like the Peugeot Lion? Oops, almost forgot.., one of my favorites - Whitcomb USA.

Great subject. headbadges can be fantistic studies in graphic design - placed so delicately right up front so as to introduce what's coming up. Many of them are "graphically" flawed because of ill-resolve of incorporating the rivey/fastener locations into the design, often ruining the whole effort. Cinelli placed the fastener screws in the dark background field, Masi did it in a similar fashion, but IMHO, a bit more crudely. The Legnano warrior is a real neat badge, but absolute ruined by teh fasteners. The earlier Hetchins cast badges had a neat fleur d'lys (sp) detail that indcorporated the rivets.
A couple nice headbadges are for sale on Ebay right now, and according to the seller, about 200 will be floated in that direction in the near future.
