David: I got my information on the vintage of that derailleur from Ken Denny before I posted it. Ken's info was that the first year was the only year a date was not put next to the word "patent". A few years ago I bought two Teledynes out of the Southwest with full first generation SR. There was a minor argument at the time among friends as to what the first year of SR was.
