Yes, 1971 is the important year for me as well as US history.
Super Mighty US Dollar (No. currency in the world) abandant GOLD Standard.
I came into the US July of the year, paying 360 yen for each dollar which rate was FIXED since 1946 US ocupation of Japan. When I started undergraduate study in '72 the exchange rate dropped to 305. Also down to 180 yen in '76. (Today 120 yen)
I also brought my racing bike (Katakuka Silk, Japanese Toei made) with Steel Campy record, Universal C/P brakes. Milremo rim, L/F Record hubs, Campy older 151mm BCD Crankset, Mikashima Pedal, AVA stem and bar. This bike was stolen 12 years ago. I miss it very much.
