Mark:
The main reason I suggest that early Syncro was not
really intended for C-record is that members of the US
Campy tech support crew said as much in 1987. On the
other hand they had it on their C-equipped neutral
support bikes, so who knows. In reality, I don't
recall ever seeing a photo of any pro or elite level
rider using Syncro prior to the slant ders. of 1990.
Soon after, some pros went to Syncro. In my
experience with the friction-optional Syncro 2 is that
it was a bit fussy and required very careful
preparation of the shifter boss. By the time
index-only version came out, the system worked pretty
well, and lots of riders were using it.

That is good news for me. Looks like I have the
"correct" rings for my arms. You're pretty sure about
this?

I didn't realize that there were three types of logo.
I have seen the stamped 'origional equipment stress
riser' and the others. You're saying the early
non-stamped ones were laser-etched and the later ones
were anodized? My newer ones do have much, much
darker logos and the rasied area at the hole. My
older ones have a barely visible logo, recessed pedal
hole, and possibly a slightly different shape by the
spider.

I have a rear that looks exactly like the origional (shield logo, no cutouts on pulley cage) but no upper spring. Must be 1987-ish. I've seen later models with cutout and threaded inner pulley cage (like NR). Newest ones are script logo, with cutouts and threaded cage plate.
