His name is Dean Hovey. He ran a bike shop as well as built frames in the 1970s. He moved into the computer accessories design and development business and later consulting with venture capitalists.
Dean had grown disenchanted with the bike biz by the late 70s. He felt it had become a fashion business, more about poly jerseys and not about bikes. A man ahead of his time. Last I heard he, his wife and daughters were still enjoying bicycling.
