The Carnacs are a really nice shoe but are a bit narrower than the Reynolds I have a pair of both! Neither takes a cleat; in the Carnac's case there is a lightly ribbed rubber sole, the Reynolds has a leather sole with a rribbed rubber outer sole which can of course be replaced when worn out. The Carnac has a much stiffer sole but is still fine for walking in. I'm more than happy with either. The Carnac's upper I certainly thought was leather and wears very well mine are left over from a Cycling Plus test from about 1993. Hilary Stone
