List Members,

Stopped by one of my LBS's yesterday and the owner has taken in trade an older Serotta. I don't know the model but will describe it. I'm looking for thoughts about it's value. It is sized right for my wife - owner says for me to make him a reasonable offer - I hate when they do that.

It's blue with an all chrome fork with Serotta's engraving in the fork crown sides, Tange 2 tubing sticker on the seat tube. All mid eighties Shimano 600 components except for a weird seat post that curves forward (about the same arc as a medium sized banana). Handle bars are also odd in that they curve forward and up with shifters on the inside up at the top. Size is 48cm, condition is good - paint has some scrapes but no dents. Everything needs an easy cleaning but bike has been obviously stored well over time and shows no problems or major wear on it. LBS owner says the seatpost and handlbar/shifter setup were expensive back in their day - ie. I guess he has some notion of the bikes worth. So, anyone care to comment on the tubing quality and potential price range?

Thanks in advance,

Eric "usually Peugeots & Raleigh's" Elman
