Subject: [CR]1950's Cinelli Information sought

A friend of mine (of the non-subscribing to listserver variety) picked up what he identified to me as a 1950's Cinelli Model B. I told him I'd ask for more information about the bike from this group.

The bike has original decals, headbadge, paint (silver), and chromed pointed but plain lugs. It has upright handlebars, Cinelli badged stem, and the following components are Altenberger: front brake, shifters, front derailleur, hubs. The rear brake is weinman sidepull. Magistroni crank with Simplex chainwheels. The rear derailleur is unmarked, and it mounts on the chainstay. The rear wheels enters the frame in a perpendicular manner and then is secured after moving it forward (toward the front of the bike). He says the serial number that he can read is 6996.

He is curious if there is an exact way of dating the bike, determining what kind of rear derailleur it is, finding another Altenberger (I'm not absolutely certain that I have name correct; I didn't write it down, and I do tend to forget) rear brake.

Thank you.

Cheers.

Tom
