Lou's not quite right. IF the surfaces are equally polished, then nickel will appear to be a bit yellowish tinged as compared to chrome.
The nickel (coin) hasn't been polished, decorative chrome surfaces will have been highly polished.
For bikes, after they are polished the already look like they've been plated.
