I guess it's no surprise that it's easier to sell the "racer look" than take a practical approach to fitting someone who doesn't race, and isn't in the kind of shape to do so. The Rivendell approach may sound "preachy" at times but makes a lot of sense. Classic content: I'm 6' 1" ride 251/2" Raleighs, (which no one would ever accuse of being too small) and I can't get the bars even with the saddle. Would still require extended headtube and /or extended steerer or ugly(to me) tall Nitto stem.
