I don't know if conspiracy is the right word, it's certainly a fashion trend
right now.
I guess it's no surprise that it's easier to sell the "racer look" than take
a practical approach to fitting someone who doesn't race, and isn't in the
kind of shape to do so.
The Rivendell approach may sound "preachy" at times but makes a lot of sense.
Classic content: I'm 6' 1" ride 251/2" Raleighs, (which no one would ever
accuse of being too small) and I can't get the bars even with the saddle.
Would still require extended headtube and /or extended steerer or ugly(to
me) tall Nitto stem.
