i'm flooded with direct inquiries that i can't possibly get to, so i'm ganging the replies here. i made the bike in 1975. it is the 11th frame with 'richard sachs' on it. i made the frame for daniel morelon, but since i couldn't send it to france, it was sold to the man in hartford. i sold the frame, not the bicycle. all comments regarding the parts, the assembly, the wheels, and the maintenance should respect the fact that there are no tracks up here, no track racing culture, and in that era things were not as sophisticated as they would soon become. so don't jump ugly on this guy if something is awry. it was his dad's bicycle! i was racing track then as a cat. 2, and went to the natz 4 times by the 80's so i assure you the frame had every detail chosen to make it velodrome-worthy. however, it appears to be set up for street use now. with regard to the issue of my health as it relates to the perceived value of the bicycle a'la the confente thing, many of you have emailed directly to say that making light of the 'more value...after he's dead...' thing is not in the best taste as subjects go. i like to fun it up as much as the next guy/gal, and i've been caught several times too. the consensus i have from the mail here is that most of you don't think it's good form to discuss the value of an item becoming 'higher' once its maker is no longer productive. sorry to be such a big boo. e-RICHIE http://www.richardsachs.com
