That's Shimano 600 AX, their "aero" phase of the late 70's and early 80's.
The rear derailleur had a sort of indexing that was built into the
derailleur body instead of the lever and if you think the rear derailleur
cable routing is weird you should see the front up close. There is probably
no cable housing stop on the chainstay so you'd have to bolt or have it
brazed on to use any other rear derailleur.The shifting was a weak point in
the group; I know devotees of the pedals and hubs. This frame with a
noticeably longer top tube than seat tube may have been designed for the AX
crank/pedal system which puts the rider's foot about 2cm lower than a
standard quill pedal when at the bottom of the pedal stroke. Ever see a
Shimano road crank with a big hex nut in the pedal hole?
That's the adaptor to use a standard 9/16" threaded pedal in the AX/EX
crankarm.
