iBOBs,

http://ebay.com/<blah

This is an eBAY auction for some older Super Maxy triple, TA Cyclotouriste looking cranks.

I'm not necessarily interested in bidding on them. Rather, I'm curious if these are 'quality' Cyclotouriste knock-offs, junk, Viscount/press-fit nightmares, other? What's the story on these? Were they made by Sugino? SR?

Any information about these interesting triple cranks would be much appreciated.

Tim,

I'm pretty certain that it is. There was a period when many companies made crankarms to match the TA pattern. Sugino still does - see:

http://www.sjscycles.com/store/item244.htm

I contacted SJS about these and they said that they're compatible with the TA on both bolt circles.

Sugino listed a similar chainwheel set, called Model PX, in their 1992, no.29 catalog. The crankarms have a more "aero" section than the Super Maxy cranks on Ebay. PCD was listed as 80mm, which is the same as the TA 6-bolt middle & inner rings.

According to Sutherlands the inner bolt circle is also same as TA. THE PX was available with 160, 165, 170 & 175mm crankarms. DB
