Well, you mentioned the key word, "WAR!"

The only explanation, as in a perfect world, an idealized eBay auction would be run off like a game of "rock, paper, scissor." In other words, none of the participants would let each other know what they were willing to pay until the last minute of the auction. Each participant's first bid would be their "snipe" in the last 15 seconds.

It could happen... NOT!
