>I unpacked my 30s track bike and came across some things I wanted to see if

This was done when the side flaps started to flare outwards. I know
i the past a few companies sold pre drilled saddles too. I've done
the sewing trick to a few of my saddles and it works fine.
>The Handlebars are plugged with cork.
I do this quite a bit since I'm cheap, but if you can get a champagne
cork in there it actually looks nice too. Also cork is much lighter
than any other plug. On track bikes it's REALLY important to have
some kind of bar end plug, and if you've ever seen what an unplugged
bar can do to a thigh you now why.
>The dust caps have been removed from
>the hubs.
Removing dust caps is a standard weight saving measure on the track
that goes as far back as wooden tracks. Merckx had them removed on
his bike too.
