Clive in Oz bought a 1983 Arabesque from me and it was damaged in shipping by the evils bastards at UPS. Clive has been trying unsuccessfully to locate decals, even Colnago does not have them. Anybody in our group have any ideas on a good decal scource.
I work for Prudential in Boston, working in the apartment rental end of the business. Recently I placed a family in a home in my neighborhood. While at my desk, the fellow of the couple I was working with overheard my conversation with UPS about the two bikes that had been damaged in shipping. One bike went to Clive in Oz, the other to Craig Griffith. My customer, had worked at UPS a few years part time. He is a pro-bike racer, so as he is part of the cycling community, I believe his story. He told me that he was not suprized that the bikes were damaged, large parcels go on rollers and much larger, heavy boxes can easily fall on smaller boxes and crush them. Quality control and care do not exist.
The box that the Legnano was shipped in was badly damaged. I feel like no matter how well a bike is packed, there is no confidence is shipping with UPS. Some people in our group have used UPS successfully for years as had I, but nolonger will I be using UPS.
Craig and I have been going in circles with UPS to file a claim, they are incompetent in every aspect of their business. Every time I call, I need to repeat the same information I've already given to another UPS "imbicile". As well as damaging two of six bikes shipped, they forgot to collect a COD.
