On 5/31, I had a heart defect corrected with a minor surgical procedure. The defect was Wolff Parkinson White syndrome, which in my case, manifested itself on an EKG as a sort of arrhythmia. Although I would occasionally experience the symptoms (rapid heart rate), I never even knew I had the problem. It was found almost by accident when I was admited to the ER in early March because of severe chest pains (that were most likely not caused by the WPW).

Bottom line, if you've never had an EKG, talk to you doctor about having one. It's painless, and takes all of 30-60 seconds. It turns out I've had this defect my entire life, but never knew it until March.
