A couple of points regarding the Huffy and Ross/Kellogg threads. When Mike Melton was at Huffy somebody produced a video tape called Building the Custom Bicycle Frame with Mike Melton. It was shot in the Huffy factory. Melton walks the viewer through the process of designing and building a lugged steel frame. I have a copy; its pretty good.
The first builder of the Ross Signature Series was Jim Redkay then came Tom Kellogg. Then Ross went belly up. Rand International bought the Ross name and moved Ross to Farmingdale, N.Y. They had an idea to resurrect the Signature Series and advertised for a frame builder. Its a long story but they hired me even though I had only built a few frames. It sucked. I left and opened by present shop.
In this same thread there has been mention of Paris Sport and a few of the builders that worked there. To my recollection LeMonge', Dave Molten, Mike Melton, Andreas Cuevas and Orero all worked there at one time. About a year ago I sold an Orero/Paris Sport to list member Paul Lee. It is true that they were fairly well crafted.
Jamie should get off my butt and build more frames Swan, Northport, N.Y.
