Subject: [CR]RE: What make that Confente worth so much?

Is the main reason a seller would put an unreachable reserve on a bike to find out the maximum a person would pay for an item? He as much tells bidders to not ask what the reserve is. Someone mentioned that perhaps he was just testing the waters. How much would the seller save by selling this bike off line as compared to from a e-bay bidder?

Being a demigod isn't necessarily a bad thing. A casual reader of this site over the last few months couldn't miss the adoration heaped upon Confente, as well as some of the still-living demigods. If this site represents the monied end of the road bike collectors, then based on his press, Confente-anything is a pretty marketable commodity. We always want to identify heroes or people with god-like qualities. Dying young never hurt a demi-god's celebrity.
