Hi Despite these warnings I used modern automotive 2 pack clear coat over the whole of my resprayed The Flying Scot with no problems. I was given the tip by a friend who restores stationary engines and has used this material numerous times. As modern two pack paint are basically enamel, the will overcoat most materials and transfers without reacting. The only problem is the health risks associated with these paints. I used a local back street garage and was only charged £10.

I've just applied waterslide transfers to my Freddie Grubb and very nice they look too.
I'm concerned that I use the correct clear varnish/sealer and wonder if the Plasti-kote 549 Clear Flat clear sealer that I've bought is suitable. It is water-based and I notice that the directions which came with the transfers say to use an Oil-based varnish and to NOT use a cellulose or acrylic varnish which it says will destroy the transfer.
Look forward to your replies.
