Not only was the first Tournament of Roses Parade bicycle based, but the "Tournament of Roses" was a BICYLE RACE and not a football game. Amazing!

Another interesting bikefact. The "Good Roads" movement in the 1880s for getting the dirt roads in the US paved was instagated by the League of American Wheelmen (LAW). They had a very large policical clout at that time. In other words, paved roads had nothing to do with automobiles!
