OK guys I got a set of Champagne corks to fit in my 30s track bike. Here is my dilemma the corks that came out were severed off and only the inner part was left. The inside of those bars is small -- wine cork size -- but wine corks don't have expanded ends. Do I trim down the Champagne corks and leave the large bulbous ends as my plugs? I want this bike to look original and rideable so I have a few more questions. How tight is the chain to be? When I worked in bike shops I had experience with single speed children's bikes but not track bikes and we would set them up with some slack a the tightest point. If I do this with the track bike it seems to have a delay when you accelerate due to the slack in the chain did they run them tight? It seems to be very noisy tight. What did they use for gear lube back then pedros seems a little light for this application? One last question for those of you who still want to talk about bikes. The pedals seem original and have some really old Christophe clips -- the pedals don't have cutouts for the straps I can take a photo if anyone here can explain how to route the straps?
