I enjoyed a classic ride today, of sorts. I was joined today by our very own listmember Larry Osburn to enjoy a wonderful yet muggy ride in Sewickley. Pa. We cruised through a metric century trouble free and healthy yet once again. Wonderful ride with no rain and the temps stayed low til late in the ride although MUGGY. Once again, Larry rode his Raleigh International and impressed the many surrounding him with his ability to wear long sleeves and long pants even though the temps began souring into the 80s without shedding sweat. Oh the wonders of wool, Aye Larry? (not to mention the fact we occasionally have to hold a mirror under your nose to see if your still alive!) I rode my Bianchi steel frameset (hot-rodded up a bit) with lovely lugs and nice little etchings throughout the lugwork. Chrome chainstays, and I had to occasionally show all these new age carbon and aluminum jobs that steel remains quite real! I will see them eventually clamber up the hill...well behind of course.
Todays trip was a two-fold trip, ride a wonderful metric century and pick up my 70s Zeus frameset from Larry who has been keeping it in quarantine from his Raleighs. Bright orange in color with seat tube foil sticker, it is a wonderful frameset. Lovely lugs and dropouts and ready for all the collected components I now have waiting to grace the body of this magnificent bike. Once finished, I will have to take some photos and post them for all to see.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any headtube zeus stickers anywhere, I would love to get one to put on this bike.
By the way, the above is the kind of items I enjoy reading about, classic bikes, classic reports on any rides that members go on and what they rode. Not some of these other discussions of late. Let's return to classic bikes, parts, and other related items before Dale says to hell with all of us...again. He works hard, respect the work.
