I have some GB aluminum Maes bars, 15/16" diameter bulged to 1" at the centre and a GB aluminum stem with 1" clamp.{nbsp; I don't know the model of the stem but it has the round GB logo on each side of the extension set in a depression that is pointed at the top and bottom rather than following the circle of the logo} the clamp area is quite bulbous and has a single pinch bolt underneath.
My problem is that I cannot insert the bars into the stem -- it comes to a grinding halt as soon as I get to the bend and it looks like I would have to lever the clamp open more than it could stand to get it round the bend. Is this the wrong stem for these bars? Or will it in fact go round if I prise it open and persist? Any suggestions?
