As I know many members here subscribe to the Rivendell Reader, have others read the article in the current issue (RR #23) about Huret Jubilee? Am I the only one who questions that the shift levers shown are really Jubilee? The two sets of Jubilee shifters I own are very thin for most of their length, as viewed from above, flairing out only at the end to provide a purchase for one's fingertips. The cable attachment is also very unusual and minimalist, like so many other features of the Jubilee derailleur set. My Jubilee shifters are the ones found on the Jubilee-equipped early 70's Raleigh Competitions. The levers shown in RR #23, however, are entirely different, more or less typical cutout downtube friction shifters. I have a couple of pairs of these also, and they are nice enough, but I thought they came with Huret Challenger and Duopar, and some other good quality Huret derailleurs, but not Jubilee. A couple of years ago, I ordered a pair of Jubilee shifters from Rivendell and received a pair like now shown in RR #23. I was somewhat annoyed and intended to send them back for a refund or exchange for the Jubilees I ordered, but never got around to it. I figured Rivendell had sent them by mistake, but I now suspect Grant actually believed these were Jubilee shifters.
Can someone as knowledgeable as Grant be totally mistaken about the identity of the shifters in RR #23? Or were there two different models of Jubilee shifters, with the ones in RR #23 being newer than those on the Raleigh Competition? Has this been discussed on iBOB (of which I am not a member)?

Jerry Moos
