Subject: [CR]AMF bikes

AMF imported many bikes under their name bad and fair to good quality. My first bike was an AMF Hercules 3 speed made by Raleigh. I paid $32 in 1971 for it. AMF's(American Manufacturing Foundry)slogan was "Alway more fun" or "always means fun". They were a diversified company in the 60's I think it was a conglomerant like Teledyne, that was the business fashion back then. My web search only shows there bowling business, the fashion in the 80's was to divest and specialize. I remember them owning an elctronic drum manufacturer?? I used to ride by it on Route 32 in Stafford Springs CT in the early 80's. Now was Hercules another name swallowed by Raleigh like Dunelt, Phillips, Robin Hood, Etc or was that just an AMF marketing name? BrIAN CHIlly in Berkeley
