Philosophically, it depends on what you want out of a bicycle. A brand new Waterford wouldn't have any of the patina and history of an old Masi. For some, this means you can ride the tread off the Waterford, while the Masi would see only sunny Sunday rides. So as a user, the Waterford is more useful. And of course with the Waterford, you have the options of STI brazeons and 130mm rear spacings, whereas the Masi will doom you to trying to find freewheels and 127mm rear hubs (unless you spread the rear, which is a heresy for another Diet). But since I spend all my time scrounging for old parts for the current fleet and the "next project", that wouldn't bother me too much. Waterfords don't really have enough of a spiritual connection to the fabled Schwinn Paramounts to be cloaked in a historical aura, so I'd have to vote for the Masi if I was adding to the fleet. Now if I didn't have any other bikes (tragic garage fire, say), and the bike would be my only ride, I might go for the Wisconsin offering. And what would you pay if you could get a frame brazed by Wanda or Lucille, the old Chicago Schwinn Paramount torch artistes? Wonder what ever happened to them? >

>I've never owned a custom frame and only know what I've learned from this

>list about Masi and Waterford, however I did ride my 1994 Bianchi Eros 40.3

>miles today in 93% heat and high humidity and enjoyed every

>mile.Consequently, if I was looking for a new bike and money was no object I

>think I' be looking for another Bianchi. Cheers, Ed Landreth, Norfolk, VA.
