"In the old days," I remember being the support for a stage race team and I had to wash and dry a bunch of wool team members jerseys every night.

The trick was to round up a bunch of cotton Terry cloth towels. Wash the jersey gently in luke warm water as described above, then roll up the jersey (to avoid stretching out of shape) and squeeze out as much water as possible. Don't twist wring it, just roll it up very tightly and squeeze....

Once you have maximized the moisture removal this way, lay a dry towel out flat and smooth out the jersey flat on top. Then roll up the jersey inside the towel very tightly.. Squeeze and mash it up a bit.. Then repeat the process with as many towels as you can get away with!

After 2-3 towels, the jersey will be a lot drier, lay it or hang it to dry, over maybe a horizontal stick? (The rod inside a clothes closet works well, just clean it first!) It will dry the rest of the way very quickly as long as the humidity is not high.....
