It is great to see the achievements of Major Taylor being celebrated on the list. Among his many world travels he spent two Australian summers racing in here with great success in 1902-03 and 1903-04. While here he was a great hit with the crowds, popular for his spectacular riding and his great sportsmanship.

The bike is a Massey Harris who sponsored his trip to Australia. Items of note on this bike are the one piece crank, the angled rear dropouts and of course the "Major Taylor Stem". The bike, which is not in great condition, is on display at and old LBS here in Sydney.
