I have a pair of 2000's and frankly see almost no difference between them and the original Mafac Competitions, the ones with the name engraved on the calipers, rather than printed on a foil sticker. Because these two models are virtually identical, I'm guessing the 2000's were introduced about the same time as the original Competitions, in the early 70's. Still don't know exactly what the difference is other than the name. The 2000's I have are gold anodized, but I also have a pair of gold anodized Competitions.
