Hello Dave and all:

I have always thought that the Specialissima and the Competizione came in the same colors, which I believe, but can not prove, were black, white, celeste, and candy-blue, -red, & -green. I believe I have seen examples of both models in all of the colors listed, but the old memory is a little foggy on this subject. I have personally seen, and ridden with friends & owners of original Specialissima's in black, candy-blue and candy-red. I have seen restored Specialissima's in celeste, but don't know if it was the original color. And I believe the white one that I saw was an original Specialissima.

As you know Dave, I too am interrested in learning more about the earlier Bianchi's, being the proud owner of two original '59 Competizione"s, #161113 candy-Red & #161130 candy-blue. I also acquired a lesser model Bianchi of similar vintage recently. A candy-blue, with chrome head-lugs and stay ends (maybe more), called a Gran Sport. It will take a lot of work, but it will save.

There was a discussion among friends awhile back regarding the color of the Bianchi Specialissima from the 60s. I had thought that they were availible in Celeste, were they?

It seems that most of the Specialissimas seen are black, candy green and perhaps white.

It was determined that the Celeste bikes from that era were TEAM BIKES, kinda like the old raliegh Pro and the Team Professional. The

Bianchi Team bikes did not have a headtube badge, no chrome bands (which may have appeased American tastes) on the seattubes.

Any additional thoughts would be most welcome.
