I've been wondering when a cycling equivalent of the Mille Miglia was going to appear and this is as close as I've seen.I've wanted to tie a trip to visit the Belgian relatives with a cycling trip, and the Eroica certainly sounds like it is quite the experience.Plus this event gives me an excuse to pursue another bike, since I haven't the proper one to participate with.If any list member has a '50s or earlier bicycle preferably Italian sized 59cm c-c or larger they are willing to sell, please contact me off list.I'll be gathering more information from the event organizer as well so contact me if you're interested. ------------------------------------------ Jay Van De Velde ------------------------------------------ Seal Beach,CA ------------------------------------------

>EROICA!

>

>Check out the vintage bike racing event called "Eroica" in the February

>4 issue of VeloNews®. It is 125 km, some of it on dirt roads in Tuscany

>at Gaiole between Florence and Rome.

>

>Racing bikes from the fifties, from the thirties and even some from pre

>Turn of the Century! Last year's version had 60 riders entered and

>ranged from youngsters to guys in their fifties and sixties.

>

>This year's event is September 28-29 and Andy Hampsten's touring group,

>Cinghiale Cycling Tours, will end its Super Tuscan itinerary at the race

>(Andy will be riding it).

>

>Show of hands! Who is up for this event? I'm seriously thinking of

>entering with my 1939 Bianchi or my 1954 Bianchi.
