170lbs and heavier seems to be what it takes. When I worked in a shop in the 80s, I saw many broken rear axles especailly in the West were jumping cattle guards was necessary. They always would break on the inside edge of the right cone. The lever effect of the right side spacers. Skewer would hold it together.

Why do you think Shimano developed, and got the patent on moving the cones as close to the dropout as possible? Lessons learned on the classic equipment.
