There is a pic at http://www.classicrendezvous.com/British/Herc_55_tdf.htm of a "55 TDF herc racer that has your derailleur. I have a 52 Falcon club bike, # 13231 that came with a 3 speed "Herailleur" drivetrain. It has pinned lugged construction with oval cutouts. There are older examples of Herc racers...I think the older you go with Hercules, the better they compare with their peers.
