Aldo,

I was 32 in 1976, about 40 pounds overweight and had been looking for my first adult bike. I was going to put together a Ron Cooper with frame and parts all from the Bikcology catalog but it was going to run around $900 for a full Campy bike and even with all Japanese parts it was going to be $750.

The local bike shop had a Raleigh Pro still in the carton, full Campagnolo, and Silver mink paint for $506 that I bought with my tax refund. At the same time my wife bought a Raleigh Competition, black with gold pinstriping and Huret Jubilee derailleurs for $249.

It was the start of a life changing event for a car enthusiast...
