The subject line just about say's it all. This 1972/73 Flying Scot is currently in L.A.

I am forwarding details to the list on behalf of the owner David Brandt who has expressed a wish to sell it.

It is an out and out track machine (Sprint ?), and is a large frame (David reckons 58cm c-c 60 c-t) and built using Reynolds 531 and has Prugnat ? lugs. Still in it's original paint & 'decals' inc. "Campag equipped" (frame & forks in light blue with the lugs lined in gold). It is equipped with Campag Record high flange (track) hubs and tied and soldered spokes on Nisi sprint rims. Campag Pista 165 cranks (and pedals ?) with a 48 tooth chainring. 14 tooth rear cog. Cinelli aluminum stem (aprox100-110mm) and steel track drop bars. There is a small ding in the top tube. I don't recognise the saddle - someone enlighten me ?

He is asking $300 + shipping for it and if you are interested, you should contact David direct by e-mail on dbrandt@loop.com

The frame number 183 P (matching on both frame and forks) indicates that it was the 183rd frame built in 1972 / 73 probably 1972 due to the low frame number.

This is a lovely example of one of the last of the frames built by David Rattray & Co. prior to the death of the last of the two original owners of the company. After this time the companies fortunes went into freefall as did some of their products.....but that's another long story.

I am not directly connected to this sale in any way, though I would appreciate an observations those "trackies" and framebuilders out there have about the bike, the lugs and the close clearances particularly between the front wheel and down tube and also that fork crown. Purely from a historical perspective you understand.

Thank you for the indulgence.
