Subject: [CR]More on the 1948 Gillot

A fellow CR member was curious as to why I'm selling the Gillot. This was my response:

I purchased the bike several months ago from Ken Denny, but in the last few months I've decided to focus completely on Hetchin's cycles (Vibrant stays only) from 1930-1970. Something has to give, so there will be many bikes I'll be selling in the next few months that I'm going to hate letting go of. As a typical collector, I've been spending more than what has been coming in, so to afford buying 30s-60s frames and componants I must part with a major part of the collection it has taken me years to build. Some cycle or frames I'll be selling are as follows: 1950 Freddy Grubb frameset 1966 all Chrome Schwinn Paramount 1950 Claude Butler all rounder complete 1946 Hobbs Barbicon frameset 1983 Mercian Vincetore w/ Gold Galli 1979 Jim Merz with complete Dura-Ace AX group, almost NOS. Has 1 mile on it. Mike Kone will verify this. 1958 Hobbs Barbicon frameset 1968 Hetchin's Magnum Bonum complete w/Campy NR
was a one owner bike from the UK. Tjis one may be sold. 1979 Vitus 979 with Campy SR, NOS and complete. There are too many to list, but this is just a start. I'm working right now on the purchase of a 1939 Brilliant Curly, fully restored frameset and another 1936 Hetchins. Peter Naiman Boston, MA
