No, Wolber Mixte rims were never popular at all, at least in the US. They were useless dogs that didn't sell and languished on the few dealers' shelves who were foolish enough to buy some. They had too many shortcomings and too few attributes. Clearly, they were a solution to a problem not encountered by the vast majority of cyclists. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during the meeting where their production was approved by management--something tells me some eager marketing guys were unusually persuasive that day. To call them the Edsel of modern bicycle rims would be charitible--and probably an insult to Edsel enthusiasts. ;-)
