Subject: [CR]Important message to CR Listees! Policing the CR list

Dear CR friends..

I just wanted to make a gentle point about conducting ourselves on the CR list, adherence to rules, correcting list members, yada yada...

As you know, I have rather more stringent rules than many/most/all? other lists out there. Some of you have cursed that set of restraints, others have agreed with me that it helps give this list a unique character.

What you may not know is that when one of you slips up (often a newbie) I write a e-mail directly to that person asking for compliance. Despite my occasional pique and subsequent warnings about "booting people off the list", I have done that only a couple of times over the years. A couple more people have quit in anger. (Some of them are back on... anonymously!) But usually I just ask you to get with the program, and virtually all of you are great folks who then gladly oblige!

It is really working rather well and I thank you all for that cooperation.

But, I DO ask you to let me do the corrections and warnings myself, off list. If you zing a person you think might be off topic or whatever, you risk getting a fight going and stir up ill will.

IMO, GOOD will is of the essence here , and I will take care of offenders myself, hopefully tactfully and in a way which I can use my authority and keep the good of the group paramount...

Everybody good with that? Thanks Dale.
