You are exactly right. You are powerless to stop this kind of harassment and ebay is real bad at helping you. It would not be too hard to zero in on these creeps as you need a valid credit card to start a new account. Unless you have an endless amount of credit card accounts. Also you can validate an address against a credit card. If ebay would suspend these folks for 6 months when caught it would stop it cold. I just came through a similar situation and ebay only suspended the person for a week. What a joke, not only does the perp have their original account back but ebay even re-installed the phony account and they know damn well it is the phony account created just to harass me. I would like to send a clear message to ebay of what I think of their process but when you write to a faceless e-mail account the auto response is less than satisfying. If you sell or bid on ebay be careful and complain like hell if you even sense anything going wrong or next time it could be you.
