hopefully... the 'hugh porter' name doesn't need introducin' to the CR list. he was at the top of the racing game during the era, (coincidentally), of the list timeline. porter was a track star, but his bicycles, made by whomever, were the official bicycles of the Bantel racing team in the yookay. the Bantel team had a few stars; sid barras, danny horton, porter, and bob jones come to mind. the 'hugh porter' bicycles ridden by hugh and the Bantels won many races in the 70s. it was an era in which the professional circuit flourished in great britain, bring to an end the notion that the only people in england that made a living on their bicycles were the postmen. there is a full page cover pic of hugh on the feb. 74 issue of international cycle sport. and there is a bitchin' three page story about him in the same periodical's sept. 72 edition. the story is titiled, 'he did it his way'. i can xerox this stuff if there's interest. by the way, why do so many british people name their homes? i don't know. but my last correspondence from mr. porter, (from the mid 80s), was addressed from, hugh porter, 'rivendell', and the street, town, etcetera. just a datapoint for you lurking iBOBs!!! lastly, it's hugh porter MBE. you don't get much better than that! e-RICHIE north main-upon-chester
