I've gotten a couple of off-list responses from members familiar with Gimondi frames (perhaps those who posted the one I remember). I seems my recollections were more or less correct. There was a pro quality model with Felice's photo on the decal. I'm informed that it was mode by Chiorda. Of course that wouldn't absolutely prove that the Gimondi bike that started this thread was from the same source.
